A story- Dreams

I am a keen observer of things and I like to write stories based on what I see around me. Once when I had been to a fair, I saw a young boy selling bright colorful balloons. If things had gone right for him, he should have been actually playing with them instead of trying to sell them. This sight left me highly disturbed and this resulted in the birth of this story. May God fulfill the dreams of every child. May this world be more kind towards our little flowers.

Raj looked at the bunch of colorful balloons and his heart leapt with joy. He lovingly touched the money in his pocket with which the balloons were going to become his. He could not believe his luck when his mother had given him money in the morning and asked him to buy a dozen of balloons. There was a long queue before the balloon seller. Raj wondered why the children in the queue were so dull and unhappy. They were here after all to buy colorful balloons.

As the queue moved forward, his mind raced backwards. Raj belonged to a family of eight. He went to the local school along with his siblings. He loved going to the school everyday. He enjoyed being with his friends the whole day. His teachers were very kind and most importantly his school offered him free lunch. Another important reason why he loved school was because it gave him a chance to escape the grim environment at home. His mother was always grumpy and complaining. His father was always away at work and whenever he was home, he was sleeping and was not to be disturbed.
Raj brushed away his thoughts. Today was a special day. It was his birthday. His mother had been unusually kind to him. She had given him money to buy balloons and here he was. Now was Raj’s turn and he happily selected twelve vibrant and colorful balloons. He held the balloons tightly and sang all the way home. How jealous his friends would be if they saw him holding twelve balloons. Raj could still not believe his luck. His mother was waiting for him near his house. She yelled at him, “Raj, hurry up! Go to the market and sell the balloons for Re.1 each. And don’t dare come home with unsold balloons”. Raj’s balloons remained intact but his heart had burst already.

My first blog- Winning over a foe

This is my first ever blog . I am quite surprised to find myself here because I am the same person who swore never to get friendly with a computer twelve years ago. I was in college and was part of the confident young youth of that time. I eagerly took part in all contests and won at least a few of them. I was confident that I had above average talents and was going to make it big in the future. And then one fine day, all my confidence came crashing down. :-( . Well, it was all because of this.. computer. Let me tell you the story of my " confidence lost"

Going to an internet cafe was considered cool among teenagers at that time. And me being the over confident young lady joined a group of friends for a visit to the internet cafe. Well, here I must inform you that I had till then never had the opportunity of being in close proximity with a computer, let alone handle it. But a few of my peers weren't as ignorant. They took their seats and started logging into their yahoo accounts. And there I was standing like a lost sheep wondering what to do. A friend ( well, I stopped considering her so after the incident) intending to help me, asked me my mail id and I said I had none. She looked at me as if I was the strangest thing in the room. But then she came back to her senses and offered to create a yahoo for me. I happily gave her all the information and eagerly waited for my my own mail id. And then came the password section. My friend asked me click on the box and start typing my password. And I stood there like a dumbo and asked her "How do I click on it?" She threw another "how can you be so.. " look and said" you just need to use the mouse". Well, by now you must have assumed what happened next. Right. I didn't know how to use a mouse. My friend tried to remain calm and said "you just need to move the mouse" and I did. I lifted the mouse and moved it. My friend (not anymore) laughed and laughed and took up the responsibility of spreading news of my endeavours to all of my peers. There I was standing, my face beet coloured and that was the historical moment when I decided that this computer would be a foe for the rest of my life.

Well, today things have changed. Today I interact with my foe (now friend) everyday. And no day is complete without me using her ( somehow i have given my computer a female gender). I work as an online tutor. I manage my finances online. I think I can give myself a pat on the back for winning over my foe . But well, it was not easy though!
